Weed Building Supply, Inc. Turns 35
This
year the staff and friends of Weed Building Supply proudly celebrate the company’s
35th anniversary. Our company remains one of the oldest and most
respected locally-owned businesses in rural Siskiyou County, California. For the past 35 years WBS has focused on staying
true to our motto: “Small enough to
care; large enough to serve.” We
have sustained our position in this challenging marketplace by providing excellent
customer service and selling quality materials while keeping our prices competitive.
Our
Mission Statement is “We promise each day to support and enhance our community, employees and
business partners.” In support
of our Mission Statement WBS views our relations with customers, employees
and vendors as simple win, win, and win partnerships.
Our goal is to enhance the lives and businesses of those we partner
with each and every time we meet.
History of Weed Building
Supply
In
1975 Peter Eddy opened Weed Building
Supply on a leased one acre site on Park Street in the city of Weed, California. This location was quickly outgrown and by 1980
Peter relocated to a larger site at the present day location on Shastina Drive in
Weed.
In
1998, in the interest of expanding service in southern Siskiyou County, WBS purchased Mt Shasta Building
Supply at the site of the former Contractor’s Lumber facility on Upton Road in Mt Shasta.
The needs of the professional builder have been the focus of this store
and its inventory mix. In 2000, at the Weed location, the Rental Center
was opened to offer tool and equipment rentals.
Two years later we expanded the scope of the Rental Center
to include a complete inventory of goods for use with weddings and events.
In our quest to satisfy the retail home improvement needs of southern Siskiyou
County, in 2002 we opened Mt. Shasta Do It Best Hardware located in the Ray’s
Shopping Center in Mt. Shasta city. Here
we offer a modern and complete hardware store at a convenient location.
During
these past thirty-five years of expansion our core facility on Shastina
Drive in Weed has experienced many changes.
We added square footage to our retail store or warehouse spaces in
1986, 1997, 2000, 2002 and 2004. Each
change brought improvements for the protection of inventory and enhancing
the shopping environment. The structure
of our company has also evolved with the biggest change being the welcome
involvement of Michael Solano, as a partner/owner in 2005.
Michael will lead our
talented team of associates to embrace the Home Improvement business in this
21st century. Looking ahead
to the future, we continue to make plans for improvements and growth. This expansion is creating quality shopping
environments for our customers and
